The Compass Academy Network mission is to provide students in grades 6 through 8 from rural school districts with enhanced opportunities to supplement their knowledge and skills for success in middle and high school, to support strong ethical foundations through character education, and to find inspiration and joy through learning. Students will develop a personal vision for their future academic endeavors, become active and engaged citizen-leaders, and develop skills that will enable them to achieve their full potential in life. Students will form new friendships and make connections with educators who will serve as positive role models and mentors.
“I passionately believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. I was inspired to found CAN to provide access to enhanced opportunities for students to find inspiration and joy through learning, while reinforcing critical academic, social, and ethical competencies, helping them to become active and engaged citizen-leaders.”
Compass Academy Network students attend a summer program on the campus of a host independent school, local college, or university and participate in additional quarterly programming with educators and peer mentors throughout the school year.
Through a rich and interactive curriculum, the Compass Academy Network program is designed to inspire students to find joy in learning, develop a deeper understanding of their strengths and passions, acquire the academic and social competencies necessary to succeed, discover the essential elements of their own moral compass and the character and confidence to reach for their dreams, and to connect with educators, peer mentors, and other students in a supportive community.
